Six Nations Witchery

About The Site

Mairead This site was originally created by me, Mairead, in 1997. I am the great grand daughter of Audrid. I wanted to find a way to raise some money for my Great Grandmother's coven back home in Ireland in the small hamlet of Caerna Cridhe. This is the old name of our town so it will not appear on any modern maps. We didn't want to become a tourist trap. Grandma's cottage There was a major storm that caved in the thatched roof of Great Gram's cottage and did some damage to the walls as well. The coven's crafts were beautiful so I thought it would be a great way to raise money (not for personal gain mind you!) and also spread knowledge about the old ways that had been lost. I got together with Grammy Audrid, Azriel, and old Scaitha and came up with the concept of Six Nations Witchery. It was to be a site concentrating on the covens' crafts and magick of the six celtic nations - Ireland, the Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany, wales, and Scotland. It worked and Grammy Audrid's cottage was saved! We have a wonderful extended family throughout the world.

Old Church From time to time we have had to raise awareness about happenings back home.....like the time the college in Dublin wanted to take our N'a Gig from the old church. We needed help from witches all over the Celtic Nations but that is a whole other story you can read about later!!!!! Starting up the site was very difficult at first, because most people here do not care much for modern technology. They do not trust it, and I believe it was only because of my luck and my mother's reputation that I was given a chance. And good Father Kiernan, who believed in me when practically no one else did save the members of my own coven. The old ways are fiercely protected and handed down orally in these covens.

We were successful, and the site has continued but I am no longer the only contributor - now, many of the witches who came together and helped in that time of adversity continue to look to www.sixnationswitchery.co.im as a place of collaboration - and many come to visit and of course to consult with Grania the Wise on the Isle of Man.

We have cast many circles together on cold stormy nights on the Isle!

Because of our success, there is one computer in Caerna Cridhe now, at Niall's pub. It is only tolerated here because of the luck it brought us. So I had to use a server elsewhere, but at least I can work on the pages at Niall's or when I am travelling abroad in the States visiting family. I hope someday the people here will accept the computer as a proper tool for witches (even a very young one, such as myself!), just as much as any other. But that might take some time. I think they will come around in time. There is so much of the old ways to teach the next generation. Audrid, Azriel, Scaitha, Grania, and Moraig have all opened up to the idea of corporate cunning folk - corporate witches.....it gives them quite a chuckle over their pints at the pub.

We all hope you will enjoy our site, and if fancy strikes you, read some of the writings of our Coven, tales of our travels, and of the many wonderful visitors we have had through the years. We cater to the discerning magick user and are here to help in any way we can on your travels down the light path.

Merry we meet,

Merry we part,

Merry we meet again....

Blessed Be!

Mairead
